Daniels Fundraising wants you to have a fun, easy, SUCCESSFUL fundraiser. Here's some ideas to make that happen:
SET GOALS
Not only do you want to have a dollar figure in mind, but know exactly what the funds are to be used for so you can communicate that to your participants and customers.
PUT EVERYTHING IN WRITING
Make a work plan that includes a calendar. Setting dates for the different phases of your fundraiser will keep everyone on schedule and focused. Check with other schools or organizations in your area to make sure that you are not running your fundraisers at the same time.
SET A TIME LIMIT
Give your participants time to achieve their goals without losing interest. Allow extra time after your deadline for any "stray" orders.
SHARE THE KNOWLEDGE
If you have chaired a fundraiser, you have valuable knowledge to pass along. You know what worked and what didn’t. Contact previous chairs for insight. Keeping good records will help future fundraisers be successful.
KNOW YOUR CUSTOMER
Choose a fundraiser that will appeal to your target audience. If nobody wants your products, it doesn’t matter how much profit is projected. Sometimes it is better to choose a fundraiser with a lower profit. If your customers want or need your products, you will sell more.
PROMOTE YOUR FUNDRAISER
If you had a successful fundraiser in the past, share the information with your organization with a “Press Release”. Use it to announce your upcoming fundraiser as well as your past success. Let those that contributed in the past, perhaps by purchasing or volunteering, know how their time and money were spent. This is also an excellent way to let past volunteers know their work was worth it. They will be more likely to volunteer again or recommend to someone else that they volunteer.
INVOLVE THE TEACHERS!
If they know the goals and benefits up front, they’ll be more likely to be enthusiastic and pass that on to the students.
